Chinchero, Maras Salt Mines, Moray and Ollantaytambo

We will pick you up from your hotel around 8 a.m. (flexible schedule, we adapt to your plan) and head to Chinchero, an authentic Inca village located at 3,777 m altitude, surrounded by spectacular landscapes, cobblestone streets from the Inca era and foundations of ancient stone houses. We will visit its charming colonial chapel, built on an ancient Inca temple with more than 400 years of history, where Andean tradition and Spanish heritage converge. Then we will enter a textile cooperative, where local women will show you step by step how they obtain the vibrant colors from plants and insects to dye alpaca wool, preserving ancestral techniques inherited directly from the Incas. Afterwards we will continue to the impressive Maras salt mines, to discover how the Incas extracted this precious mineral through a system of thousands of salt pools, a method that the people of Maras continue to use to this day. From there we will drive about 20 minutes to Moray, an enigmatic Inca agricultural laboratory formed by Andean circular terraces, unique in Peru and in the world, whose first impression is that of a great natural amphitheater. We will visit two of the four sets of terraces existing in the area. Finally we will head to Ollantaytambo, an imposing Inca city built with monumental stone blocks. We will visit the religious sector, where we will walk among the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of Water and the impressive Inca terraces. Then we will walk to the old urban sector to visit an authentic Inca house and discover how it looked from the inside. The tour ends and we will transfer you back to your hotel or wherever you wish.
